Watch how this baby elephant bravely fights against a pride of lions
Updated | By The Workzone with Barney Simon
See how a baby elephant's valiant fight against a pride of lions at the Hwange National Park ended in the awe-inspiring footage below.

One of the most appealing aspects of a game drive is the opportunity it gives you to witness the reality of life in the wild up close.
At times, the sightings show the brutal side of nature. But even if a group of visitors comes upon a hunt in progress, there can be something to learn.
On a recent drive through the Hwange National Park, tourist Cynthia Mack and her group witnessed an injured baby elephant heading for the watering hole.

Before the elephant could arrive at the watering hole, a few young lions advanced. Sensing danger, the elephant released a cry and flailed its limbs in attempts to shake the lions off of its body. Unfortunately, due to the leg injury, the elephant succumbed to the lions.
At one point, it appears an adult elephant approaches the baby to respond to its distressed cries. The lions scare off the adult elephant and are then able to have their way with the baby elephant.
Cynthia describes the "raw emotions" of the sighting, and remarks that the moment taught her to face the realities of life in the wild: "While it may be hard to watch it is part of the bush experience, appreciate the sighting and learn from it! Watch the interaction and observe the communication between the killer and its prey. It is fascinating."
