Celebrating 69 Years of True Love
Updated | By Bronwyn Hardick
Do you believe in true love and happy endings?
If not then Fred and Daphne from Nelspruit will make you a believer.
Not too long ago, Rian caught up with 'Honey, I'm Good' singer Andy Grammer and was blown away by his thoughts and opinions regarding monogamy and respecting marriage (which is what the song which is all about). It was during this interview that this post on The Complimentary Breakfast's Facebook page grabbed the attention of the team:
Fred is 91 and Daphne is 88-years old. They have been married for 69 years, have 7 children, 16 grandchildren and soon to be 15 great grandchildren. They met during the 2nd World War where they were both stationed in Egypt and have been in love ever since.
Being romantics at heart, The Complimentary Breakfast was truly touched by their special love story and not only wanted to hear more about what it is they do as a couple to make their marriage work, but also decided to surprise them with a special treat for their anniversary.
Have a listen to what happened here:
Thanks to Diaan Lawrenson (Paula from 7de Laan) for helping us add something special to their anniversary!
Just to add to the warm and fuzziness, for those who have not yet seen the music video for 'Honey, I'm Good' - enjoy!
