Chef Brett Ladds butters up the perfect sandwich
Updated | By Lee-Roy Wright
Is your home famous for making the perfect sandwich? Earlier this morning we were on a quest to find the tastiest sandwich. Chef Brett Ladds shared his thoughts on what to include on your sandwich.
The simple snack most of us eat on a daily basis comes with a history. It was named after John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, an 18th-century English aristocrat. It is said that he ordered his valet to bring him meat tucked between two pieces of bread, and others began to order "the same as Sandwich!"
Since then the 'sandwich' has become synonymous with lunch, family gatherings and pretty much a part of everyday life. Apart from chatting to chef Brett Ladds, we asked you to help us find the ingredients to the perfect sandwich.
This is what a few of our listeners suggested:
1. Steak (medium rare), cream cheese, horseradish and crispy onion on a french loaf
2. Lettuce, tomato, cheese, onion, cold meat, avocado, cucumber and strawberry jam
3. Toasted chicken and mayo, bacon, cheese and caramalised onion
These really do sound super tasty!
As for Cheff Brett Ladds, his ideal sandwich features some of the same ingredients, with a twist. His ideal sandwich consists of salami, cucumber, tomato, spiced butter, anchovies on a seeded bread.
Admit you are drooling right now?!
He also shared a few tips on eating healthy and getting into shape. Take a look.
