Experts share plan of action for mining town, Pilgrim's Rest

Pilgrim's Rest has suffered over the past few years, especially sue to the lack of tourism the small mining town receives. However, the town offers rich heritage and our experts have devised a plan of action to help the town.
Two weeks ago The Complimentary Breakfast visited the small mining town of Pilgrim's Rest and discovered that the town was not what it used to be.
Experts on development and infrastructure of towns were invited to assess the current state of the town and in doing so have devised a strategy and plan of action to help the mining town of Pilgrim's Rest.
They shared their list of tasks they need to undertake with us in order to help the town.
- Stakeholder reconciliation
- Engagement and alignment, formal and informal economics
- Develop specific LED strategy and IDP
- Engage with department of public works to serve Tenure and Business.
- Develop a fresh marketing plan. (Digital)
- Develop investor confidence
- Boost short term economy - Quick wins (projects)
- Develop local product offering (retail, hospitality, heritage)
- Change Pilgrim's Rest from a 'drive by town' to a 'stay over town'
- Restore Pilgrim's Rest as a national heritage site.
We are sure that with this plan in place, there will be some drastic improvement to the current state of Pilgrim's Rest.
