Jelly injected prawns - The reason why prawns are so costly

A disturbing video has surfaced showing how prawns are injected with a kind of serum. The serum injected into the prawns increases the size of the prawns so that they look 'fuller' for the buyer.

Prawns are being injected with a jelly-like substance called carboxymethyl cellulose.
The substance increases the size of the prawns, making them appear heavier and plumper.
The footage shot by a Vietnamese TV station, shows how the crustaceans are injected in the head and the tail. Even though the substance is not harmful to humans, the footage that has surfaced of the practice is making consumers think twice about purchasing prawns.
