Rian van Heerden from The Complimentary Breakfast stumbled upon a study wherein Dutch and Canadian scientists found that people are generally friendlier and more willing to make compromises at the dining table - in a nutshell, if there is a need to have a difficult conversation, best to do it over dinner.
With that train of thought came the idea that conversation is lacking in South Africa and in order to understand one another in a better light, we as a nation need to talk.
Executive Chef Bret Ladds from Essence Catering in Centurion is a food genius! He's cooked for celebrities, super models, sports stars and an array of Presidents, including the late Nelson Mandela.
Rian formally invited Ndumiso Ngcobo to be his guest, without having out any thought into a menu. Chef Ladds joined the show and embraced the concept in the form of the ultimate gourmet menu guaranteed to leave any guest, from any culture, wanting more.
Starters
Chicken twirl infused with a morogo butter crème Centre partner of samp terrine placed with smear of chili butternut & sweet Seshebo dots of morogo nut pesto
Entrée
Spear of Karoo Nku deglazed in rosemary and garlic
Spear of free range Nyama fillet in a brown sugar balsamic glace placed on a deep fried spiced phutu grit shield
African root vegetables, vine tomatoes & wild grass influenced champion
Coated with beef & lamb juz accordingly
Dessert
Malva Pudding base and centre with traditional African lemon meringue filling dollops, bedecked using flambéed meringue and passion fruit caviar.
