Updated | By Kriya Gangiah

We know there are many people who undergo cosmetic surgery to look ravishing, but we have not often heard about animals going under the knife.
While fairly common animal procedures such as tail-shortening and ear-clipping are taking place but are illegal in South Africa, other more extreme procedures that are more common to human plastic surgery are now starting to become popular for pets too.
Now people are taking their pets into get double eyelid surgery, wrinkle removal, stretch mark removal, Botox, fat removal, and more.
Veterinarian Dr. Yoon said that performing cosmetic surgeries on pets is “medically safe” and that it is “the owner’s right” to make their pet beautiful if they so choose.
A Korean magazine called the Daily Vet conducted a survey asking if these surgeries on pets should be banned. A whopping 63 percent of the polled pet owners said yes.
