How social media can cost you millions – think Spur
Updated | By The Late Show
The Spur fight which went viral on social media and what followed has cost the franchise millions!
We all remember the horrific incident.
Two parents going head-to-head at a Spur in Johannesburg.
The altercation between a black woman and white man, which resulted in the latter being banned from Spur stores nationwide, has since led to a mass boycott.
The boycott Spur campaign grew momentum on social media, with no signs of it letting up - with some saying the ban was unfair.
Spur's share price has also dropped.
There are several Facebook pages and groups calling for a boycott of the restaurant.
Right-wing Front Nasionaal has reportedly claimed responsibility for orchestrating the boycott.
Here's what social media has to say.
If only people boycotted the government in the same way they boycott Spur ??
