When #MenAreTrash trends in SA
Updated | By The Late Show
#MenAreTrash is trending on Twitter in South Africa and here's why.
It all started with the horrific news of Karabo Mokoena's alleged gruesome death.
The 22-year-old woman who had been reported missing in Johannesburg has been found dead.
She was reported missing last month with some of her friends and family taking to social media asking the public to help find her.
My friend has been missing since about the 28th April. If you have seen her please let me know 🙏🏽☹️ pic.twitter.com/UQ0kNqfKRb

Her family has since confirmed she was murdered, allegedly by her boyfriend.
Many people have taken to social media to highlight the dangers women face, not only in unfamiliar places, but also in their homes when surrounded by loved ones.
This is what Twitter had to say.
Dunno why men are offended by #MenAreTrash. We've failed women. men rape, abuse, murder and harass women. Not aliens, men.

Yes we don't like being called trash, but women hv a right to vent. It's a fact that we're killing them.#MenAreTrash
