Lonely widower Edwin Holmes lost his wife in 2006 after they'd been married for 45 years and had not been on a date since.

Ellie Walker heard that the 86-year-old spends most days alone and couldn't quite believe it. She decided that she'd take Edwin out for tea, and it turned out to be his first date in 55 years.
The couple enjoyed a Crimbo roast and Edwin showed up in a suit with a bunch of flowers in hand.
Edwin told The Sun: "The dinner made me very happy as it was unexpected and I had very pleasant company. As for the suit, it was my first date for about 55 years, and I got the flowers because I wasn't going to go empty handed."
