MBD #PurpleRhinoParty telethon funds to help look after rangers
Updated | By Kabelo Mekoa
The MBD Purple Rhino Party telethon funds are going to be used in the Tactical First Aid training of 200 rangers in the Kruger National Park.
In our continued commitment to the fight against rhino poaching, the funds raised by the Martin Bester Drive’s recent Purple Rhino Party will be utilized to invest in Tactical First Aid training for 200 rangers in the Kruger National Park.
Jacaranda FM’s Purple Rhino Project, in partnership with StopRhinoPoaching.com, recognise the vital role that the Kruger rangers play in safeguarding the largest herd of rhinos left in the world. Patrol teams, special rangers and reaction force rangers face untold threats on a daily basis to carry out these duties. Armed and aggressive poachers entering the park to poach rhinos don’t hesitate to shoot when intercepted by rangers, which makes tactical training with a strong focus on gunshot first aid a critical focus area. Rhino Poaching is not just an animal issue, it’s a human issue on so many levels. Looking after the wellbeing of our rangers is paramount to the survival of rhinos.
StopRhinoPoaching.com, supported by tile company CTM, has invested in 140 trauma packs for this project with thanks to suppliers MedDev, while ER24 will be conducting the tactical training. This collaborative effort combines the generosity, determination and heartfelt goodwill of projects and supporters on many fronts – for our rhinos and their rangers. The project will be managed by StopRhinoPoaching.com
