Performance in all its glitz and glamour can be extremely trying.

There is the anticipation that comes with each performance, wondering if you will attract applause and if the audience will get your point of view. It can all be so stressful.

But you rarely ever think that the biggest problem will be having an audience in the first place.

Actress and writer, Georgie Grier, who is performing at the annual Edinburgh Festival Fringe, recently reminded us that even performers have rough days.

To think that everyone around you has it all together is definitely an injustice to both you and others.

This is why we particularly appreciated her post on Twitter/X where she showed her true self. She opened up a human part of her that many people are thriving to connect with.

Grier is performing a one-woman play, 'Sunsets, in the Snug', for the duration of August at the Ed Fringe

And on her first night, her opening show, she had but just one person who came through to watch her performance.

Of course, she was heartbroken, but sharing her emotion with social media worked in her favour, because her next show was sold out!

Grier showed her true self to the bigger audience on social media and it paid off. What we really loved about her actions was her honesty.

"When I posted, I was hoping for a few messages of support or advice from fellow Fringe acts, however I had no idea how much it would resonate with people," she said, per The Guardian." (Insider)

According to their website, "The Edinburgh Film Festival is described as one of the greatest celebrations of arts and culture on the planet", so we imagine that comes with lots of pressure to perform.

But hearing how surprised and humbled Grier was after her post makes it all worth it.
