The Cape Town Carnival is a highly anticipated event on the calendar for Capetonians. Far from being a fleeting annual occurrence, it unites artists, performers, tradespeople, and spectators in a vibrant celebration of Cape Town's rich culture.

This year marked the 15th anniversary of the carnival, with crowds of excited participants gathering on Saturday, March 15, to immerse themselves in the city's kaleidoscopic culture.

"By bringing together some of the best performers and artists, we cultivate and sustain local participation in arts and culture, while showcasing creativity, encouraging celebration, and boosting tourism. At the same time, we can create jobs, develop skills, build networks and give a voice and visibility to a wide variety of communities," says the Cape Town Carnival.

This year, the Green Point Fan Walk was alive with dazzling floats, electrifying performances, and stunning costumes.

Rio Carnival's Queen of the Drums, Erika Januza, along with the DHL Stormers, YoungstaCPT, Paxton, Bravo le Roux, the South African Youth Choir, Kfm94.5, and The Drag Cartel, all added to the excitement as they paraded through the streets.

But it was the law enforcement parade that truly captured the spotlight on social media.

A fan favourite for many, this year’s parade saw an outpouring of love and support for law enforcement like never before.
