Just a tad bit more than it costs in South Africa...
Getting your driver's licence is a milestone moment for people, but it can be an uphill battle for many.
In addition to the cost factor, there is the lengthy process of studying the manual and attending driver's lessons. The practical test is separate from the theory test; you cannot pass one without passing the other.
In Germany, things are just as complicated, if not more. According to online resources, the average cost of getting your driver's licence in Germany is around $3,000 (R52,522).
The cost is determined by the number of lessons one takes or needs. A person looking to get their German driver's licence can expect to pay between R47,000 and R86,000.
"This includes mandatory professional training with 25 to 45 hours of driving lessons and 12 hours of theory. Practical lessons cost €55 (R1,052) to €95 (R1,817) per hour. Exams have separate fees: the theoretical test costs €50 (R957) to €100 (R1,914), and the practical test costs €150 (R2,870) to €250 (R4,784)." (Instagram)
