Eastern Cape man dies, is buried inside his Mercedes Benz
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
Did you ever hear about the man who asked to be buried with his beloved car?
We've heard of some weird and unique requests from people who have passed on.
And when someone's 'big day' comes, they have all the right to make special requests on how they want their final rites performed.
Some ask for a special flower, others request that certain people not be allowed to pay their respects, and then there are those who ask to be buried with something special.
But, usually, that translates into a favourite item of clothing or jewellery.
But this man had a twist when it came to being laid to rest.
A traditional chief and well-respected man from the Eastern Cape loved his Mercedes Benz so much that it was his request to be buried with it if ever something happened to him.
"Tshekede Pitso, 72, collapsed and died while walking towards the car outside his home." (YouTube)
"His family said that before his death he had expressed a wish to be buried in his 1980’s E500 Mercedes car. According to his daughter Sefora Letswaka, he loved the Mercedes Benz E500 so much despite the fact that it had broken down." (YouTube)
What was even more arbitrary was that he was buried seated in the driver's seat, with his hands on the steering wheel.
As much as this may sound like it's a bit over-the-top, no one wants to disobey the request of someone's dying wishes.
