Funerals have a unique way of highlighting a person's personality in unexpected ways. Sometimes, it's the aunt or uncle who steals the show with their emotional outbursts, endless chatter, or a little too much to drink.

Other times, it's the story behind the person's passing or the way they were dressed that leaves a lasting impression.

In Africa, funerals often hold a special significance, with something to admire in every detail – whether it's the flowers, the sermon, the food, or, in this case, the coffin. While most people don’t typically "ooh" and "ahh" over this aspect of a funeral, a Ghanaian carpenter has switched things up for those who want to make a statement at their funeral.

Erico Carpentry, a carpentry shop in Ghana, proudly describes itself as an "expert in woodwork and fantasy coffins".

And it's no joke – this carpenter creates custom-made coffins designed to reflect the deceased's occupation.

Michael Dapaah, a British actor and comedian, recently visited this carpentry shop, sparking quite a buzz.

These so-called fantasy coffins (though the term may not be entirely fitting) are designed to reflect the daily lives of the individuals they are made for. For instance, a pilot might choose a coffin shaped like an aeroplane, while someone working in a brewery might go for a beer bottle design.

It's not a new concept – just last year, we saw a Ghanaian taxi driver seated in his coffin, which was shaped like a taxi. You can read more about that here.

As you can see, there's no shortage of options – from Nokia phone coffins to chilli-shaped coffins.

We’re not exactly sure what profession would warrant a Nokia-shaped coffin, but it certainly makes for a memorable statement at any funeral.

Talk about going out with a bang... or perhaps, more fittingly, a ring-ring.
