Have you ever mistaken someone's heritage?

Sometimes it can be difficult to be certain what someone's roots are...
It's not unusual for us to mistake each other in South Africa and in many parts of the world for being part of a different heritage.
Over the years, we have come to signify certain traits that form part of different cultures, and we associate those traits to be part of the majority of certain communities.
But sometimes it can be a case of mistaken identity - and something of a disaster.
In this case, it was a post made by a TikToker who goes by Sihle Hawkes.
In the video, he asks others if they can relate.
Because even though he is Xhosa, he often gets mistaken for being a coloured South African who speaks Afrikaans.

Let's choose to be mindful of that when we meet people.
Don't assume.
