As you assess your 2024, do you feel the clock tick away from your ever-pending love life?

If that's the case, you should try the 12-grape tradition at midnight this New Year's Eve. It is all the rage online and has even provided some success for a few who claim it brought them true love.

Despite what many people may think, this tradition, in all its might, comes with some history. Of course, the version of the current trend didn't stem from its historical roots; you could say the current version has evolved quite a bit from the origins.

“This is really a Spanish tradition,” explains Michael A. Di Giovine, Ph.D., a professor of anthropology who focuses on food heritage and holiday traditions in Mediterranean culture at West Chester University. (Vogue)

In case you were wondering about the success stories, check out the two videos below of women who shared that their successful relationships resulted from eating twelve grapes underneath a table at New Year's.

How sitting underneath a table eating the grapes brings you closer to your steadfast love factors into things is a bit of a mystery. It seems that it can be attributed to a "blend of fun, mystery, and superstition" and a way of indicating to the universe that you are ready for love. (Hindustan Times)

If you are interested in participating in this New Year's trend, then you should know that the two rules that reign consistent were shared in a recent article by Vogue

"Regardless of how it’s done, two rules seem pretty consistent: Each grape represents a wish for the 12 months ahead, and you must finish eating all 12 grapes before the clock strikes 12:01, or the wishes won’t come true. “You cannot still be chewing,” Noel Wolf, a cultural expert and language teacher at Babbel, emphasises."

Will you be trying the 12-grapes trend this New Year's? If you are, make sure not to choke...
