Man jumps off moving rollercoaster as lap bar unlatches
"I'm thankful it happened to me and not one of the kids on the ride..."
Visiting theme parks or amusement parks is a fun thing to do during the holidays. Many families will flock to these parks during the festive season, but remember to practice caution.
It is incredible to experience rides like the fastest or loopiest rollercoasters, but it's not for the fainthearted. Like anything at a theme park though, there are safety measures.
We were shocked to hear a story of a rollercoaster rider who was left to think on his toes after a safety mishap.
"The man, who said he was celebrating his niece’s birthday at Castles N’ Coasters in Phoenix, told NBC affiliate KPNX he was riding Desert Storm, a double-looping roller coaster when his lap bar unlatched just seconds after the ride began." (NBC News)

The man was disappointed by the lack of concern from the theme park and noted that the ride's operators only noticed he had left the rollercoaster when he completed his descent from the safety stairs.
He also mentioned that the operator should have checked if his lap bar was adequately secured before the ride took off.
"I think the scariest part was the negligence of their part and just the absolute carelessness that they had throughout the entire thing," the man said." (NBC News)
As we approach the busiest time of year, make sure that when you are visiting theme parks or any public place, that you have a safety talk with the family. Speak about stranger danger, kidnapping, meet-up points if anyone gets lost, etc.
