Only in SA will people on horses go through the 'drive-thru'

Perhaps we are using the incorrect term, and it should be 'ride thru' instead of a drive-thru.

As South Africans, we’re no strangers to seeing surprising things – whether it’s seeing people travel across highways on motorised wheelchairs or two people riding one bike.

It’s safe to say that there’s rarely a dull moment in our vibrant country. While some moments are full of drama, others are simply lighthearted – and we embrace them all with open arms.

This time, our attention was caught when two people decided to take the unconventional route through a McDonald's drive-thru, not in a car, but on horseback. Their unique mode of transport certainly turned heads and left passersby surprised.

While it’s not the first time we've witnessed something so out of the ordinary, it certainly won't be the last. It was, however, refreshing to see people bucking the trend and doing things their own way.

After all, have you ever come across a sign that specifically bans ordering at the drive-thru on horseback? Maybe it’s time we rebrand the drive-thru as a "ride-thru" to include horses.

For many who watched the video, it wasn't as shocking as it was delightful. Captured somewhere in Cape Town, some viewers even recognised the horse, known as "Dream", at the ride-thru window.
