An incident that happened near Malelane Gate in Kruger National Park has the South African National Parks (SANParks) on high alert regarding tourists.

After a man's grandchildren stepped out of their vehicle near a bridge, an elephant, hidden behind some trees, charged toward them.

The grandfather managed to get between the kids and the elephant.

Unfortunately, the elephant was relentless and charged at the man who was fatally injured.

Following the incident, SANParks is urging tourists to stay in their vehicles around wild animals.

JP Louw, spokesperson for SANParks, revealed that an investigation is underway. "Due to the sensitivity of this matter, we appeal to the public to avoid posting pictures or videos of the incident and victim," he said.

SANParks has expressed condolences to the family as they try to navigate this loss.

According to IOL, "The SANParks board and management extended their deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, offering support during this difficult time."

What was meant to be a fun family outing turned into a tragic memory. Sadly, the elephant was acting out of nature, but this highlights the risks that come with visiting wildlife parks.
