Small business owner warns people about 'cookie jar thief'
Updated | By Jacaranda FM/Udesha Moodley-Judhoo
Crime for small business owners can be brutal.

Starting a small business is no easy feat – it demands courage, perseverance, and a wide range of other essential qualities. But perhaps one of the most important traits to have is the ability to think ahead.
A small business owner from New Zealand recently shared an interesting video about the ongoing challenges she's faced with theft since launching her cookie business.
Most recently, she discovered that people had been stealing cookies from the jars displayed at the front of her store. It’s a perfect example of the old saying: getting caught with your hands in the cookie jar.
In response to the thefts at her store, she’s taken some drastic measures.
To outsmart the thieves, she’s become just as crafty as they are – replacing the cookies in the jars with fake ones made of clay.
Now, the only thing we’re unsure about is whether she swapped the real cookies for the fakes before or after the theft she mentioned. If it was before, the thief likely had quite the surprise when they reached for a treat!
We think her idea is pure genius. Sometimes, you have to be able to think ahead, especially when it comes to issues like theft.
You also have to be ready to play the game of cat and mouse – and be willing to beat the thief at their own game.
Watch the video from TikTok.
@moustachenz I don’t wanna say this for fear of sounding lame, but who stole the cookies from the cookie jar man #cookies #smallbusinessowner #bakeryowner #SmallBusiness ♬ original sound - MoustacheNZ
