Teenager told not to sit in Checkers trolley
A customer tells a teen boy to get out of the trolley at a Checker's store because he's not a toddler.
It’s not uncommon to see older kids – or even adults – hopping into shopping trolleys for a spin around the grocery store.
Whether it’s for laughs, nostalgia, or just a moment of light-hearted fun, there’s something oddly comforting about being pushed around like you’re five again.
Most people pass it off as harmless play, occasionally met with a chuckle or a side-eye from other shoppers. And unless security steps in, you can usually get away with reliving your childhood for a few minutes.
But not everyone sees it that way.
One young man recently shared how his innocent trolley joyride at a Checkers store was cut short by a fellow customer who, let’s just say, wasn’t impressed.
The young man was filming his light-hearted moment in the trolley while another boy, who we assume is his brother or friend, pushed him along.
But the fun was short-lived. In the background, a stern voice cut through the laughter. An older man stepped in, saying, “You’re not two years old. You’re a big boy...”
As the boy jumps out of the shopping cart, embarrassed by the incident, he apologises, and the man thanks him.
While the moment could’ve ended there, it sparked quite the reaction online.
"I’m sorry, but no one is telling me to get out of the cart whether it’s an employee or not. I will stare at you until you leave me alone."
"Honestly, if he weren't a guard or checker employee, I would tell him to mind his business. It seems you were not creating chaos or running rampant through the aisles."
Many commenters felt the older man overstepped, arguing that the young man wasn’t harming anyone and that playful moments like these should be allowed – maybe even normalised.
