Thieves pose as customers to steal woman's phone
Even with so many videos circulating warning people to be weary while shopping, some criminals still hit their marks successfully.
Time and again, we come across videos showing how unsuspecting individuals fall victim to crime – whether it’s theft, kidnapping, scams, or worse. These incidents serve as a wake-up call, reminding us to stay on high alert.
Unfortunately, not everyone is as cautious, and many go about their daily lives unaware that criminals are all around us.
Criminals are not easily identifiable – they don't wear labels or announce themselves. It’s up to us to remain vigilant, no matter where we are or what we're doing.
A TikTok video from last year reminds us that thieves often work in groups and don't always appear suspicious.
In the video, a woman is walking through a supermarket, holding a basket in one hand and her handbag in the other.
She’s focused on the fridge when three people, who look like a family, approach her.
They act very naturally, and as one steps into her space to reach for something from the fridge, another slyly snatches her phone from her bag. The person who took the phone appears to be a teenager, blending in seamlessly with the crowd.

When you're shopping, make sure you follow these tips:
Stay vigilant and aware of your surroundings.
Keep your valuables securely zipped in your bag and close to your body.
Don't leave anything valuable inside your trolley or basket.
Don’t linger – know what you need, grab it, and go.
Avoid carrying cash.
If you're paying by card, make sure the people behind you respect your space.
Always cover the card machine with your hand when you insert your pin.
