Let’s face it – the extreme heat we've been experiencing has left us feeling a bit unproductive lately.

The South African Weather Services (SAWS) issued a yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms in parts of Limpopo and Mpumalanga this week, urging people to stay alert. Based on past experience, we should definitely be prepared for polar opposite weather patterns.

One thing we’ve learnt over time is that being prepared for anything has become a way of life. When the heat strikes, South Africans know how to make the most of it.

During previous floods, we saw people using their canoes to navigate the roads. Now, as we experience an unpleasant heatwave, South Africans are discovering new ways to stay cool.

A TikTok video with over 2.4 million views shows a man taking a dip in the back of his van. Using just a tarp and a hose, he successfully created a makeshift pool on the spot.

While this is a fun way to cope with the heatwave, it's important to stay safe in the hot weather.
