Traveller panics when air hostess hands her a candle

A woman became uneasy when she was handed a battery-operated candle shortly before turbulence struck during her flight, leaving her fearing the worst.
Travelling often teaches you in unexpected ways. Even without consciously trying to learn, visiting a foreign country can open your eyes to new customs and traditions.
Sometimes, these lessons aren’t subtle. Even with thorough research on a destination’s culture, you can still encounter surprises – some delightful, others more perplexing.
For instance, during her December holiday travels, Jula Vadini found herself taken aback when a flight attendant handed her a battery-operated tealight candle.
She was understandably surprised – after all, it's not on every flight you receive a seemingly random item like a battery-operated tealight candle. To make matters more unsettling, shortly after she was given the candle, the flight hit some turbulence, and the landing was far from smooth.
In her post, she shared: "Probably my most unusual flight so far. I was on a plane in Colombia when things took a weird turn… The language barrier didn’t help me! Glad it all ended well though!"

As it turns out, the candle was a gift from the airline to all its passengers. On December 7, Colombians celebrate a tradition known as candle lighting, where each candle represents a wish.
This was the airline's way of sharing this tradition with its passengers.
