WATCH: SPCA get resourceful to help bull out of open grave
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
The Garden Route SPCA were called out to help a bull that had fallen into an open grave and was unable to get out.
We rarely hear about the stories where the SPCA are called out to help with farm animals.
And that's probably because most of the time the livestock rarely get into a situation that they cannot get out of.
Or maybe it has something to do with the farmers having it all under control? Nothing like a good herdsman...
This story was a bit morbid to say the least. A bull that got trapped inside an open grave was unable to get out because it was in too deep.
The Garden Route SPCA shared a story on their Facebook page about the bull falling into the open grave.
They came together and made a master plan (as they called it), especially considering they did not have the right equipment to just remove him.
They also could not pull him up by the horns, because these animals can get violent if you rub them up the wrong way.
The team asked around for some shovels and managed to dig out a set of steps for the big fella.
They were also surprised as to how high he could jump. He managed to jump up and use the steps as his support structure to get out of the open grave.
Luckily he was not hurt and got out without any injury.
