A certain admiration comes with acknowledging your mistakes, regardless of your age.

A son who asked his mother to pronounce "mature cheese" used her response as relatable content on social media. Although her response was humourous, it was also innocent.

You see, Afrikaans is her first language, so she made the mistake of pronouncing 'mature' as you would pronounce 'nature'.

Her genuine surprise when she learned how to say 'mature' was entertaining. But more than that, it was humbling to hear how she responded after learning the correct pronunciation

Far too often, we feel ashamed, embarrassed, or humiliated when someone corrects us, but she accepted her mistake and thanked her son for correcting her.

Check out some of the comments:

  • "Aww ma is so weet dankie vir die regstelling. How many will admit to being wrong"
  • "Aaaaaw jou mommy is n darling"
  • "Awww she’s so humble"
  • "Ek voel vir daai arme checkers werker wat nou nog Mature cheese soek"
  • "Soos ons altyd sê, English is not our mother."
