When your niece takes over and steals your limelight
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
Would you allow your niece or nephew to take your spotlight away on your birthday?
We understand that parents accept their fate when it comes to their kids taking the limelight.
But we really do feel for aunts and uncles who are expected to just let their nieces and nephews take over everything.
And when we say everything, we mean everything.
One aunt accepted her fate but still showed us how things work with her niece.
Let's just say we are not impressed by this behaviour at all.
A TikToker shared a video of her 25th birthday celebrations.
Her niece was seated on her lap, excited over all the attention her aunt was getting.
But what didn't sit well with us was the fact the child blew out her birthday candles. Teaching kids that not everything will go their way is important, in our opinion.

It was indeed a mixed reaction from everyone as some people shared they would do the same.
But there were others (like us) who found the kid to be too entitled, who thought perhaps the mother should have done something.
Kari: "It's always best to stand up for yourself even if you're scared things will get uncomfortable. She can blow out the candle after you do it first."
Hannah Straub: "Nah because I NEVER felt this entitled as a child to blow out someone else’s candles, I just KNEW how important it was, & NOT my birthday."
adoptedtrickypig: "why isn't her mom moving her over?? she lights the candles, grabs her kid, then everyone can sing and bday girl can have her moment"
