Video shows woman's car door getting smashed on busy road
This is why it is so important to look before opening your car door...
There are many elements to road safety and as motorists and pedestrians, it is important for us to be well-versed on all sides of road safety.
For one, as a driver, we remember the common saying that you are not just driving for yourself, but for everyone on the road.
That means when you are in a vehicle, regardless of the type, you need to be aware of other motorists as well as pedestrians and even passengers from other vehicles.
In acknowledging all of this, it is important to remember that when you are in a stationary vehicle, you are also expected to be wary of other vehicles around you.
So, the standard practice of a person inside a stationary vehicle that has been parked on the side of an active road is to watch out for moving cars.
But this woman was not paying attention and as a result she almost got her leg smashed.

When she opened her door she did not check if any cars were coming and therefore the car hit her door.
If you look carefully, you will see she had one leg out of the door, so, essentially, she was lucky it was the car door that got smashed and she did not get injured.
The impact was so fierce that the stationary car jolted after the accident.
