World's oldest chicken is a 21-year-old Guinness Record Holder

Does that make her of legal age now?
Farming is something that not everyone can do, especially when it comes to animal farming.
In our opinion, it takes a lot of emotion to farm animals because they become family over time.
And letting them go can be something of a big ask. A farm in Michigan, USA, which is known as a 'no-kill' farm, isn't quite like your ordinary farm.
It houses the oldest living chicken named Peanut; she is 21-years-old and is a current Guinness Record holder.
"Chickens have an average life expectancy of five to eight years, so Peanut is somewhat of a Methuselah of the aviary world. On January 28, 2023, she was officially crowned the world’s oldest chicken by Guinness World Records, at the ripe age of 20 years and 272 days." (Oddity Central)
Since earning her title, she has turned 21 and her story is quite amazing... considering she almost didn't exist.
Over two decades ago, she was going to be discarded in an alligator pond but her owner heard a slight chirp come from one of the rotten eggs.
“I heard a second chirp, and I realized that the chick was alive and didn’t seem to have an egg tooth to get out of its shell,” Marsi Parker Darwin recalled, referring to the part of the beak chicks use to break out of their shell. “I gently peeled her out of the egg, and there was this wet little mess, sitting in my hand.” (Oddity Central)
A survivor was born...
A great story for those of us looking for some motivation this Monday.

Peanut was named so due to her size and celebrating her 21st birthday this past May, she is said to be as energetic and healthy as ever.
