Yay or Nay? A buffet restaurant that charges kids according to their height
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
Hmmm, that could be good for some and not so good for others...
Traditionally, many people enjoyed the idea of visiting a buffet restaurant due to its appeal in terms of value for money.
You pay one price and get to eat as many things as you like.
But as time passed, buffets became aware that people would take advantage of certain terms and conditions and try to beat the system.
Sometimes that looked like people lying about their kids' ages or trying to take away food from the restaurant.
Now if you have been to a buffet, you will know that it is rarely allowed for you to do takeaways or doggy bags.
The reason behind this is because the nature of buffets are that you can eat as much as you can whilst in the restaurant. It works out as a loss to the restaurant if they also allow you to do takeaways on the food.
It is for these reasons that we think that this restaurant, Hunan Buffet, has some insight into how to run a buffet.
In a post on Reddit, we see a person posting a pic of Hunan Buffet's sign board. The board includes the pricing structure for the buffet.
It costs $14.49 (roughly R260) per adult, and get this, children are charged by height.
Children between 3ft and 4ft (90cm and 1m) - $6.99 (R125)
Children between 4ft and 5ft (1m and 1.5m) - $9.99 (R179)
And then kids who are under 90cm (3ft) eat for free.

For the parents who are tall and have young kids who are also tall, we feel for you, but we can completely understand the thinking behind charging for height.
The line of thinking being that children will eat according to their age.
