Man mistakenly drives off in someone else's Tesla

Even smart vehicles can be confusing...
Not many people can attest to confusing their vehicles with someone else's, well, not unless they look alike.
But then you quickly realise that it's actually not your car when you try to open it and the keys don't work.
For this man, it was a case of mistaken identity when it came to his Tesla.
He mistook his Canadian Tesla Model 3 for another one that was parked next to his car.
"Rajesh Randev unintentionally managed to unlock someone else's Tesla and drive off in it, using the Tesla app on his own phone. He told Global News he was in a hurry as he had to pick up his children from school, so he didn't pay much attention to the car, thinking it was his own." (MSN)
Things started to unravel when he noticed a crack in the windshield. After contacting his wife to check if she knew anything about the crack, which she didn't, he noticed the charger was not left in its usual place.
Then things started to somewhat make sense when he received a text message from someone asking if his name was Rajesh and if he drove a Tesla.

Both Rajesh and the other owner eventually met one another, but were completely baffled as to how this could happen.
Rajesh did make out a statement with the police, but since nothing was done unlawfully, no charges were made.
"Randev said he contacted Tesla and submitted video evidence, but some of his emails bounced back – because Tesla's North American corporate mailbox is apparently full – and no one has contacted him so far. Given the serious implications of something similar happening on a larger scale, Tesla should investigate how this was possible and make sure it doesn't happen again." (MSN)
