Prepaid electricity users, is this for real?!

What starts off as a trick turns into a fail...
Somehow, no matter what your common sense tells you, there's a part of everyone that always wants to know whether hacks really work or not...
Call it the human mind needing to satisfy its curiosity. Whatever the reasoning, when it comes to hacks or tricks that help save money, now that's a whole other ball game...
Now we all know with the recent load shedding, it's been tough. Not to mention the price of electricity and everything else increasing...
Fair to say that if you find something that you can use to score something for free, you will take it without question.
The ethics behind it is definitely questionable, and we are by no means encouraging the use of illegal means to acquire electricity.
We just wanted to set straight a myth hack that this could potentially turn into... So listen up.

A member of the Conlog team got in touch with us and this was what they had to say:
"The current video creates the impression that it is possible to tamper with the meter however this is misleading. Prepaid meters including Conlog’s BEC23 displayed in the video are encrypted and secured. All our products at Conlog ensure that all the data stored in the meter is encrypted and tamper-proof, and therefore no one can hack the unit." (Lance Hawkins-Dady (Research and Development Manager)
A person posted a video on TikTok showing how by simply putting a code into your prepaid electricity meter, you could get free units.

In this case, that saying about curiosity killing the cat is somewhat true. Why? Because sorry (not sorry) to disappoint you but this was not a way of tricking the system but rather...
A way of checking how many units you have consumed since using the prepaid meter.
bababui: "This is to check how many units in total have you used,it's not free electricity and you're not bridging anything people."
Eddy: "You are right, I build those meters so after 15sec it resets to the current units."
Knowing how people think, this person merely used this as a way of tricking people into believing they may crook the system.
