Competition is tough nowadays when it comes to getting the job. Applicants have to stand out and jump over what seems like many, many loops to get noticed.

And as much as this is somewhat unfair it is also something that says a lot about employers.

Employers are looking to grow on their team with valuable, committed people, who are willing to go the extra mile.

So it isn't always negative. The thing is that most of the time it is not something that employers ask of job applicants.

It is the job applicants that have been taking it upon themselves to stand out from the crowd.

Recently we saw a lady share how she get a cake with her CV printed on it to get the attention of Nike execs.

In this case, it was a tech CEO, Zac Williams who shared how impressed he was about a job application that he received in the mail.

We were impressed that a CEO would take the time to share something like this online. For us it said a lot about his character.

But surprisingly the response in the comment section was not as positive as we expected it to be.

People were extremely critical of Williams. Some saying that he takes bribes for jobs, whilst others insinuating it was staged.

Check out some of the comments.

Leia Manent: "Fun that we now have to perform hoola hoops and cartwheels to get the attention of recruiters. actually no thanks."

Zac replied saying: "Okay that’s not fair or accurate. I opened a box and got a balloon. This wasn’t a requirement nor was it necessary. Sometimes things can just be nice."

LumosNox: "Did this once. Ad. agency which had an “airplane” theme. I folded my resume into paper planes and tied them to balloons. Didn’t even get a response."

Williams responded saying: "That would have been cool to see."

We still stick to our premise that this CEO is a good guy, he seems like he doesn't quite fit the stereotyped impression of a CEO.
