It’s Human Rights Day, but it’s also a day when the kids are home, which means it’s time to find something fun to keep them busy.

Keeping them entertained doesn’t have to feel daunting – here are some fun colour-inspired activities you can easily set up for them.

1. Splatter smash activity

Lay out a long sheet of paper and secure it to the ground with sticky plastic to protect your floors. Then, add blobs of paint across the paper. Cover it with bubble wrap, making sure it stays in place.

Give the kids a plastic hammer or spatula and let them go wild splattering the paint. They’ll be amazed at how the paint blobs expand and spread.

2. Rainbow bubble foam

This fun outdoor activity is simple to set up with ingredients you probably already have at home, and it's perfect for sensory play.

Start by adding two cups of water to a mixing bowl. Then, pour in one cup of baby wash and a few drops of food colouring. To create rainbow colours, you'll need to mix each colour separately.

Once you’ve added everything to the bowl, use a hand blender to whip up the mixture until foam forms.

3. Rainbow toast

Start by pouring milk into seven small containers, then add a few drops of food colouring to each one and mix well. Using a paintbrush, paint the colours of the rainbow onto a slice of bread.

Once your rainbow masterpiece is complete, pop the bread into the toaster. When it pops up, you'll have your very own vibrant rainbow toast.
