As we inch closer to the end of January, many people feel like time is crawling by. But don’t worry – we’ve got a few simple hacks to help you stay positive and make the most of a frugal lifestyle.

The first hack left us amazed – it’s a game-changer that proves the power of water.

1. Revive your carrots

If your carrots are looking dry and bendy, don’t toss them just yet. Instead, submerge them completely in a container of water, cover, and pop in the fridge overnight. By morning, your carrots will be crisp and fresh again.

Bonus: According to TikTok users who swear by this hack, it works wonders for celery too.

2. Clean your white shoes

If you're tight on cash and can't afford a professional shoe clean, here's an easy DIY hack for you.

Mix dishwashing liquid, bicarbonate of soda (or baking soda), and toothpaste in a bowl, and you've got your very own shoe-cleaning solution. Apply it to your white sneakers, and get ready for them to shine bright again.

3. Ziplock ice cubes

Running low on ice cubes but don’t have trays? No problem. You can easily make your own with a Ziplock bag. Simply fill it with water, lay it flat in the freezer, and let it freeze.

Once it's frozen, take a rolling pin and hit the bag to break the ice into small pieces. Instant ice for your drinks.
