Our furry friends are well known for hiding in places that they shouldn't.

So it comes as no surprise to us when we hear that the national director for animal health at the ministry shared that they are unaware as to how Mili, a dog, got into a shipping container undetected.

After opening up a shipping container that traveled across the Atlantic, workers were shocked to find a dog inside.

The dog, Mili, was still alive after 40 days of travel. A miracle dog indeed...

"The December 2021 oceanic voyage had lasted 20 days before the container sat at the port in hot and humid Panama for another 20 days in January.

"A part of the container was corroded and there we found a little hole. We assume she opened the hole with her paw and drank rain water." (News24)

After being treated by vets and quarantine specialists in Panama City, Mili is said to have made a full recovery.

She is believed to have been in good health when she entered the container and that is what helped her survive. Well, that and her resourcefulness in accessing rain water, condensation inside the container, and even possibly drinking her own urine.

Hugo Turillazzi, a vet and administrator in the canine unit at MIDA, shared "It's a miracle that this little animal was able to survive so long, that's why we gave her the name Milagros (miracles) or Mili for short". (News24)

The people that found her and have helped her in her rehabilitation believe that it was Mili's purpose to come to their country. More than that they believe that it was meant for her to provide service to her new country.

And we think that this is just more proof to the fact that animals bring purpose to our lives in more than one way.
