It's not easy to think of a herb as romantic, but romance is more about the act than the vessel.

The Oxford Dictionary defines 'romance' as a feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love. So, in essence, that could mean different things to different people.

With the price of vegetables fluctuating, we all seem to have a new appreciation for things such as tomatoes and coriander (dhania). We are used to paying around R5 for a bunch of coriander, but those days are over, with the price ranging between R13,00 to R24,00, depending on the quality.

Could it be said that gifting a bunch of coriander to a loved one, namely your wife, is an act of romance?

We think a fine line exists between being cute and romantic, which might be considered cute but not romantic. But that's subjective.

A video shared on TikTok shows a man walking up to his wife in the kitchen and handing her a bunch of coriander. The roots are wrapped with paper in the same way a bouquet of flowers is. The husband who posted the video said this was the way an Indian man shows his wife love.
