Could this samoosa have gone to private school?
Updated | By The Workzone with Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp
It seems that these samoosas from the popular SA restaurant chain, Mugg & Bean could very well be from a private school upbringing...Lol!
As South Africans, we can all agree that we love our food.
One of our favourite street foods among many South Africans has got to be the humble samoosa. There are many stories about the background of this triangular street food that has a variety of fillings.
"Although many think the samosa originated in South Asia, its roots can be traced back to Central Asia & the Middle East. In Arab cookbooks dating from the 10th to 13th centuries, pastries were referred to as 'sanbusak,' derived from the Persian term 'Sanbosag.'" (Baytalfann)
Regardless of where it came from, the humble samoosa has always reigned as an affordable and versatile snack.
Besides the fact that it can be filled with a variety of fillings from potato to minced meat, it is also easy to make and a crowd-pleaser.
In saying all that, we came across a post on social media that referred to the humble samoosa as 'elite'. Which is not how most people would describe this street snack. If anything, the samoosa would be considered the laid-back, easy-going, and approachable friend that everyone gets along with.
A TikTok user, Chereece, describes these samoosas from Mugg & Bean as 'Private School Samoosas'.
