The 'Dear Parents' teacher asks for more time
Updated | By The Workzone with Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp/Udesha Moodley-Judhoo
When the teacher asks for more time before school officially opens, you know it's serious... Not really.
The teacher with something funny to say is back. Riaan Durand, who we call the 'Dear Parents' teacher, is bringing the laughs once again this New Year.
Last year, we saw him addressing parents about not sending their kids to school before school officially closed. And now he's back – this time praying for bad weather so parents won't send their kids to school.
But before that, he bid his students farewell in another video, happily handing over the responsibility of his learners to their parents for the holidays.
Riaan Durand calls himself the teacher's favourite teacher – some might even say he's the classroom pet.
This time, he shared a lighthearted video of himself praying for a delay to the start of the school year, asking the powers that be for just a bit more time before welcoming his students back. It seems back to school has him feeling all sorts of ways about the start of another school year.
Ask any adult about their holidays, and chances are they'll complain about how short they were. It's only natural for us to always want more...
It looks like the holiday blues have hit some teachers too, and Mr Durand is certainly feeling it.
