FAMILY: Things you should say to your child at bedtime
Updated | By The Workzone with Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp
A wonderful way to make bedtime a time for quiet connection...
After a long day, we sometimes forget that our kids need a wind down as much as we do.
Filling them up with goodness, love, and joy at bedtime is just as important as filling them up with confidence and love in the morning.
It is important to follow an uplifting and fulfilling bedtime routine. And that includes speaking words that fill their cups before they go off to dreamland.
Here are some things that you can say to your child at bedtime:
1. "I'm so glad to be your mom/dad. I love you as much as all the hairs on all the bears and all the sand on all the beaches. Sleep well. See you in the morning."
2. "Repeat after me: I'm a great kid. My mommy loves me, my daddy loves me, my sister loves me, my brother loves me. I'm smart. I'm kind. I'm a great kid."
3. "You're in this world for a reason. You're made of the same stuff as the stars, the moon and the sun. I love you. See you in the sunshine."
4. "You're right where you need to be, right at this moment. You are loved. You are safe. Love you forever and no matter what."

5." Good night, sleep tight make sure your heart is right. Love you."
Your heart's right means: Is there anyone you need to apologise to? Is there anyone you need to forgive? Were you kind? Helpful?
