Five Feng Shui practices to use in your home

Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice that focuses on harmonising individuals with their environment. This practice promotes finding a balance between individuals and their space.

Let the new year bring a sense of calm and peace into your home by delving into the world of Feng Shui. The ancient Chinese practice is believed to create balance in your life and home.

"Feng shui is the practice of arranging pieces in living spaces to create balance with the natural world. This is what it means to feng shui your home. The goal is to harness energy forces and establish harmony between an individual and their environment." (The Spruce)

If you want to enter 2025 with more abundance, setting up your home with simple practices can help you achieve this. To determine whether or not Feng Shui works for you, you must consider how you feel in a freshly designed space.

Jemma from the Home Abundance page on Instagram has some great tips on practising Feng Shui.

1. Open up your curtains or blinds

"Sunlight gives you Yang Qi, which is positive energy that energises, inspires and motivates you to go out and make the most of your day, so open the curtains and let it in!"

2. Make your bed every morning

This is self-explanatory but making your bed every morning helps you feel accomplished first thing in the morning, which sets the tone for the rest of the day. It can motivate you to complete more tasks throughout the day so you can feel that 'rewarding feeling'.

3. Sweep or clean outside your front door

"Your front door is where positive Qi (also referred to as Chi - a vital life force or energy) enters your home, bringing opportunities for abundance with it, so keep this area clean, open and attractive to entice it inside."

4. Declutter one item a day

Decluttering helps you clear the Qi (Chi) and prevent stagnation. When clutter builds up inside your home, it equates to stagnant energy and blockages, preventing you from moving forward.

Cleaning up daily can make decluttering more manageable and help you practice positive Qi (Chi).

5. Wash all your dishes before going to bed

"Your kitchen relates to wealth, so keeping it clean and tidy allows more wealth to flow in. Going to bed having accomplished the task of doing the dishes also removes the weight of having to do it in the morning, resulting in less stress!"
