Frugal mom shares midweek dinner hack for under R150

Who says making pizza has to be expensive?
Finding new and cost-effective ways to cook dinner is always fun, which is why we love this mother's pizza hack so much.
Who doesn't love homemade pizza that is also budget-friendly?
Jessie Buxton, a mother from Durban, KZN, shared a pizza dinner idea that will earn you brownie points – or should we say pizza points – with the kids.
The avid content creator boldly started her video by promising to show her viewers how to make five pizzas for under R150. However, she saved even more and made six pizzas for under R125.
Buxton shared how she goes to her local Checkers and uses three cost-effective ingredients to make a pizza dinner for her family of four. She buys mozzarella cheese and passata (uncooked tomato purée strained of seeds and skin). The secret to her hack is bread dough.
She admitted that although bread dough doesn't have the exact taste of a traditional pizza base, it is a great alternative, and her family loves it.
The bill for her ingredients came to R140,67, so she delivered on her promise that the meal would cost less than R150.
Besides saving money and getting a cool dinner idea, the best part is that this could turn an ordinary night into a fun "make your own pizza" party. The kids would love it! It is a great way to get them involved in helping in the kitchen.

@_justanothermanicmomday_ Who says pizza is expensive!? Not me! 🍕🤤 So a few things… My math in my intro clearly ended up wrong. We ended up with 6 pizzas for R125! And we didn’t even touch our second ball of dough to get the 6. Secondly, bread dough can totally be used for pizza bases! Yes it does not taste exactly the same BUT it is damn good in my opinion and absolutely hits that pizza craving in the 🍑! Oh and actually, the cost is even less than R125 because you won’t even need a full bottle of Passat 😱😏 We do this every Friday night and our kids look forward to it ❤️ And it’s also a perfect way to use up any leftovers in the fridge that could be toppings…like garlic, onion, meat, peppers, etc! Let me know if you’re going to try! 🙌 Shout out to @Checkers South Africa for being the most affordable! 🥳 #pizza #pizzanight #frugalmom #momhack #southafrica #SAMA28 ♬ original sound - Manic Mom | Family Finds
