A hack for keeping your hands clean when away from home
Updated | By The Workzone with Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp/Udesha Moodley-Judhoo
In light of the recently confirmed cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease in KZN, we thought it necessary to share a key hack to help prevent the spread of infectious diseases.

We’re treading into concerning territory as the KZN Health Department has confirmed cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease in northern Durban.
This serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of maintaining good hygiene. One of the most effective preventative measures, widely endorsed by doctors worldwide, is regular handwashing.
According to the KZN Health Department, "In all instances, the learners were found to suffer from flu-like symptoms, blisters, and swollen hands. The school principal called the children’s parents to come and pick them up.
"The Department would like to emphasise the importance of maintaining good health and cleanliness, including frequent hand washing, no sharing of utensils (such as cutlery, cups, and toothbrushes), and opening windows to allow air to circulate."
With water shortages affecting many parts of the country, maintaining proper hand hygiene is more important than ever. While sanitiser is an option, washing hands with soap and water remains the most effective method.
Encouraging your kids to wash their hands with soap and water is crucial, but not all schools can guarantee a steady supply of soap.
Check out this clever hack – perfect for travel or school – to ensure your little ones always have access to clean hands.
