Teaching our kids to clean up after themselves can be a different experience for each parent. Some kids are more inclined to want to learn and are eager to help around the house.
Whether helping in the kitchen or picking up their toys, a little help goes a long way.
However, not all kids want to clean, especially their rooms. One mother on a cruise sharing her strife as a parent with a fellow mother got solid advice from this mom.
The mom, who known as Miss Prissy on TikTok, shared how it's a headache to get her son to clean his room. As you might imagine, she is not the only one facing this headache.
Many parents have to shout, scream, and threaten before seeing a clean room, and even that doesn't work sometimes.
This fellow mother had some solid advice to share with Miss Prissy and explained that the best way to approach it is to agree to help them clean their room. Ask them to sit in the room, whether on a chair or their bed, and let them watch you clean their room.
It almost sounds counter-productive initially, but the pearls are coming. Walk around the room with a container and pick up all the stuff that is out of place or on the floor. Calmly communicate to them that everything in the container will be donated.
Watch how quickly they change their attitude when cleaning their room.
This is a clear example of how sometimes it pays to work smarter, not harder...
