Hope and positivity shine through in those who take action to better society – especially when they do so without expecting anything in return.

It's always inspiring to see South Africans embracing and celebrating the good that's happening around us.

While we have a natural ability to find the silver lining in any situation, we also tend to dwell on negativity – which only invites more of it.

Content creator Adam Spires, who calls himself a "Wannabe Vlogger", recently highlighted a moment of selflessness that deserves recognition.

He shared a story about a man, who appeared to be underprivileged, standing in the middle of a busy intersection on a rainy day, directing traffic after the traffic lights went out.

Spires spoke about the ongoing issue of faulty traffic lights around Johannesburg, which often leaves motorists frustrated and creates chaos on the roads.

The young man, barefoot and standing in the intersection, directed traffic – almost as if he'd been doing it for years. What stood out even more was that motorists followed his direction.

Spires spoke about the selflessness of this act, noting that the man took charge without any expectation of reward.

While some drivers may have given him small tokens of appreciation, there was no guarantee that he would receive anything for his effort.

His ability to maintain order without formal training was truly inspiring. This isn't an isolated occurrence – we often see individuals, many without homes, stepping in to manage traffic when authorities are absent.

Yet, despite their efforts, their contributions often go unnoticed.
