Last day of school holidays, last day for chores

There was a time when school holidays meant helping out in the house with spring cleaning; is that still something kids do?

We remember when school holidays included helping out with the chores at home. We are uncertain whether that is still a thing in families.

However, one mother would not have her teenagers sit on their phones, sleep, and eat repeatedly during school breaks. She got them to do some chores, and even though they didn't seem happy about their manual labour, we are sure it will teach them something one day.

Children learn essential life skills when they start doing chores at a young age. By doing chores, kids learn about responsibility, become more self-reliant and independent, feel empowered to take control over tasks, learn about cleaning, cooking, and organising, and learn communication skills and problem-solving.

These are just a few skills that they learn about when doing chores

As much as we live in a time where parents want to give their children a better life than they had, teaching them about chores will benefit them in the long run.

Watch as this mother puts her teenagers to work during their school break. She faces some resistance from them, but it doesn't stop her from teaching them the value of cleaning.

It was interesting to note that they asked for money as a reward for doing the chores; as much as teaching them about incentives, this mother went old-school and stood her ground about them learning responsibility.
