Elana's night of entertainment came to a halt on Sunday evening when she was driving home from the theatre. While driving, she saw lights of traffic officials in the road. "I assumed that I was a compliant citizen of South Africa. I pay my traffic fines, I make sure that I don't end up in jail," she explains.

After she handed over her driver's licence to be scanned, the traffic officer informed her that she had eight outstanding traffic fines - fines that Elana had already paid online in December.

So what does one do when you have paid your traffic fines online but it doesn't reflect on the metro police's system?  Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp got the EMPD's Kobedi Mokheseng on the line to explain and give some extra advice about this topic.
