The 'Eskom Se Push' app has become a huge hit among South Africans over the past few years. It has had more than 2.5-million users since being launched. This week alone, as Stage 2 blackouts resumed, the app gained 1.3-million new users.
How does it work?
The app alerts users about upcoming load shedding in their area. It also gives a detailed breakdown of what each stage means. The best part? It's absolutely free to download
Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp was joined by Dan Wells, the proud co-creator of the app, on The Workzone to talk about the app's success and how he and his co-creator Herman Maritz came up with the name. Wells also shared more about what it is like running a business while still having a full time job.
